FX King Features
The FX King combines a familiar sporter rifle layout with the regulated, tunable internals FX is known for. Here is what defines the platform.
Sporter-Style Design and Stock Options
Unlike FX's bullpup rifles, the King uses a conventional sporter stock with the action ahead of the trigger, giving it a traditional feel and a longer sight radius. Utah Airguns carries two stock options: the FX King with a GRS Nordic Wolf laminate stock, which offers adjustable ergonomics and premium looks, and the FX King Synthetic, a lighter and more weather-resistant option. Both use a reversible sidelever that can be swapped to the left or right side, and both house the Quick Tune power adjustment system in the stock for on-the-fly velocity changes. The synthetic King weighs about 6.7 pounds with an overall length near 38 inches in the 500mm configuration.
Regulated Power and Air System
The FX King is built around the AMP MKII (Adjustable Match Precision) regulator, which delivers consistent pressure shot after shot for tight groups. It fills to 250 BAR through a 480cc carbon-fiber wrapped, removable air cylinder, and it uses FX's Dynamic Plenum, shared with the Panthera and Dynamic, to feed air efficiently. The integrated Quick Tune system lets you raise or lower power without tools to match different pellets or slugs. Shot count ranges widely by caliber and tune, from roughly 180 shots per fill in .177 down to around 30 in .35 caliber.
Barrel and Caliber Options
The FX King is available in .177, .22, .25, .30, and .35 caliber, covering everything from target work to big bore hunting. Two barrel lengths are offered: the 500mm barrel with FX's Superior Liner, and the 600mm barrel with the Superior Heavy Liner across all calibers for added velocity and stability. Velocity reaches roughly 950 to 960 FPS in .177 and .22, while the large calibers produce up to about 170 foot-pounds of energy in .35. Magazine capacity scales with caliber, from 21 rounds in .177 down to 10 rounds in .35.
How to Choose the Right FX King
Choosing a King comes down to caliber, barrel length, and stock. Each choice shapes how the rifle performs for your intended use.
Choosing a Caliber
Caliber selection follows your target. The .177 and .22 are efficient, high-shot-count options for target shooting, field target, and small pest control, with flat trajectories and high shot counts. The .25 is a versatile middle ground that adds knockdown power while keeping a usable shot count. The .30 and .35 calibers move the King into hunting territory, producing up to roughly 170 FPE for larger game and pests where energy on target matters more than volume of fire.
500mm vs 600mm Barrel
The barrel length affects velocity and balance. The 600mm barrel with the Superior Heavy Liner gives the projectile more time to accelerate, which raises velocity and can improve stability at distance, making it the choice for maximum power and long-range shooting. The 500mm barrel with the Superior Liner produces a shorter, handier rifle that is easier to maneuver in a blind or through brush. If you prioritize outright power and long-range consistency, choose the 600mm; if you value a compact, quick-handling rifle, the 500mm is the better fit.
GRS vs Synthetic Stock
The stock choice is about ergonomics, weight, and feel. The GRS Nordic Wolf laminate stock offers adjustable comb and length settings and a premium laminate finish for shooters who want to dial in their fit and appearance. The synthetic stock is lighter and more resistant to weather and field abuse, which suits hunters who carry the rifle in the elements. Both hold the same King action and Quick Tune system, so the internal performance is identical; the difference is in the handling and adjustability of the stock.
FX KING FAQ
The FX King is a sporter-style rifle with a conventional stock and the action ahead of the trigger, while the FX Impact is a bullpup with the action set behind the trigger for a shorter overall length. Both are premium regulated FX PCPs, but the King offers a traditional rifle feel and longer sight radius, whereas the Impact prioritizes compactness. The King uses the AMP MKII regulator and Dynamic Plenum, and it comes in GRS laminate or synthetic stocks.
The FX King is designed as a versatile platform that handles both. FX positions it for field target, hunting, bench rest competition, and backyard plinking. In .177, .22, and .25 it excels at target work and small game with high shot counts and flat trajectories, while the .30 and .35 calibers deliver the energy needed for larger game and pests. The adjustable regulator and Quick Tune power system let you set the rifle up for either role.
Effective range depends on caliber, tune, projectile, and the shooter, but the FX King's regulated system and Superior liner barrels are capable of accurate shooting well past 100 yards. Larger calibers like the .30 and .35, producing up to about 170 FPE, retain energy for ethical hunting at extended distances, while the .177 and .22 are typically used at closer target and pest-control ranges. The 600mm barrel adds velocity that helps at longer distances.
The FX King 600 refers to the 600mm barrel configuration, which uses FX's Superior Heavy Liner across all calibers, while the standard 500mm King uses the Superior Liner. The longer 600mm barrel gives the projectile more time to accelerate, increasing velocity and often improving stability at long range. The 500mm version is shorter and handier for maneuvering. Both share the same action, regulator, and Quick Tune system, so the core rifle is identical apart from barrel length.
