FX Leopard Platform Overview
The FX Leopard was introduced in 2025 as FX's next-generation bullpup platform, designed to consolidate the best features from across the FX lineup into a single, configurable rifle. It is available in two primary configurations, Tube and Bottle, each with different air capacity and performance characteristics.
FX Leopard Tube Version
The Tube version uses FX's around-the-barrel tube system as its primary air source, delivering a total air capacity of up to 310cc depending on barrel length and configuration. This design keeps the rifle compact and well-balanced and makes the Leopard one of the more wieldy bullpups in the FX lineup. The 600mm Standard Tube in .22 caliber produces approximately 85 FPE with an 18-round magazine capacity, making it a practical choice for pest control and hunting applications where shot count and maneuverability both matter.
FX Leopard Bottle Version
The Bottle version combines the around-the-barrel tube system with an additional carbon fiber bottle, bringing total on-board air capacity to approximately 510 to 890cc depending on configuration. This additional air capacity substantially increases shot count before a refill is needed, which is the primary advantage for competitive shooters and range users who want to shoot extended strings without interruption.
Compact, Standard, and Sniper Configurations
Compact: Features a 500mm barrel with the FX Superior STX liner, optimized for lighter pellets at close to medium range. Available in both Tube and Bottle variants.
Standard: Features a 600mm barrel with the FX Superior Heavy liner and is the most versatile configuration for hunters and field shooters who want a balance of power, shot count, and overall rifle length. Available in both Tube and Bottle variants.
Sniper: Features a 700mm barrel with the FX Superior Heavy liner, aimed at long-range target shooters and hunters who want maximum muzzle energy and the best possible downrange accuracy, producing up to 123 FPE in .30 caliber. Available in both Tube and Bottle variants.
All three variants include the AMP MKII regulator, Quick Tune system, side-lever cocking, and a 20 MOA Picatinny scope rail.
FX Leopard Key Features
Several design elements differentiate the Leopard from other bullpup PCPs at its price point.
AMP MKII Regulator and 54cc Power Plenu
The Leopard's externally adjustable AMP MKII regulator supports output pressures up to 180 BAR and feeds into a 54cc power plenum integrated into the buttstock. The plenum acts as a buffer between the regulator and the valve, delivering a precisely metered volume of regulated air to each shot. This two-stage system, regulator to plenum to valve, produces very low shot-to-shot velocity variation even at higher power settings, which translates directly to tighter groups at distance when running slugs.
STX Superior Heavy Liner
The FX Leopard ships standard with FX's STX Superior Heavy liner, which uses a modified choke and groove profile with 1:18 rifling pressed from the outside. This liner is specifically designed for heavier pellets and slugs, making it a better match for FX Hybrid slugs, Airmarksman Ace slugs, and heavy JSB or H&N domed pellets than a standard STX liner. The deeper rotary magazine, redesigned for the Leopard platform, accommodates slugs and pellets up to 13mm in overall length, removing the clearance limitations that have historically made certain slug loads difficult to feed in bullpup designs.
High-Capacity Rotary Magazine
Magazine capacity on the Leopard varies by caliber: 22 rounds in .177, 18 rounds in .22, 15 rounds in .25, and 13 rounds in .30. These are among the highest magazine capacities in the FX lineup and reflect the Leopard's design intent as a high-volume shooting platform. The deeper magazine profile accommodates both standard-length pellets and longer slugs without modification.
FX Leopard vs. FX Impact M4
Both the Leopard and the Impact M4 run the AMP MKII regulator and Quick Tune system. The primary differences are in platform layout, air capacity, and intended application.
Platform Layout and Ergonomics
The Leopard is a bullpup with the action and air reservoir positioned behind the trigger group, resulting in a shorter overall length than the Impact M4 at equivalent barrel lengths. This makes the Leopard more maneuverable in tight environments and easier to carry in a sling for extended field use. The Impact M4's layout places the reservoir forward of the trigger, which produces a longer total length but a different balance point that many benchrest shooters prefer for supported shooting positions.
Air Capacity and Shot Count
The Leopard Bottle version carries substantially more on-board air than the Impact M4, which is a meaningful advantage for range sessions and competition use where reload interruptions affect performance. The Impact M4's air cylinder is an external carbon fiber bottle that can be swapped in the field, which is its own practical advantage. The Leopard Tube version is comparable to or slightly below the Impact M4 in air capacity but in a more compact overall package.
Caliber Availability
The FX Impact M4 is available in .177, .22, .25, .30, and .35 calibers. The FX Leopard currently tops out at .30 caliber. Hunters specifically targeting medium game or larger pests who want .35 caliber should look at the Impact M4 Sniper or the FX King as the .35 caliber options in the FX lineup. For shooters who do not need .35 and prefer the bullpup layout, the Leopard covers all other caliber requirements with equivalent or better performance at each power level.
FX LEOPARD FAQ
The FX Leopard is available in .177, .22, .25, and .30 calibers across all barrel length and configuration variants. .22 caliber is the most popular option for hunting and pest control because of the wide ammo selection and strong balance of power and shot count. .30 caliber is the top choice for hunters who need more terminal energy on larger pests and medium game, delivering up to 123 FPE in the Sniper 700mm configuration.
Yes. The FX Leopard is well-suited for hunting and pest control in all configurations, with the Compact variant being particularly useful for hunters who move through brush and need a short overall length. In .25 and .30 caliber, the Leopard produces enough energy for groundhogs, prairie dogs, raccoons, and similar mid-size pests at ranges out to 100 yards when running slugs. The bullpup layout makes it easier to carry and shoulder quickly in the field than a conventional-stock rifle of equivalent barrel length. Pairing the Leopard with a quality moderator reduces the audible report significantly for backyard and close-proximity pest control.
The FX Leopard uses a standard Picatinny scope rail and is compatible with most Picatinny-mounted bipods, rings, and scope stops. A threaded muzzle makes it compatible with DonnyFL and other moderators. Utah Airguns stocks Leopard-specific accessories including replacement magazines and fill accessories, alongside rifle scopes and HPA fill equipment that complete the Leopard setup.
