The Ryu
Introducing DonnyFL's new Quick Disconnect moderators. These precision-engineered moderators feature a detach system, ensuring consistent shooting performance with no point-of-impact changes after detaching and re-attaching. These Moderators are caliber-specific compared to previous versions. Crafted from high-grade aluminum, they're robust and modular to adapt to your shooting needs. We also offer replacement rear caps for current moderators to transform them into QD.
Features:
- Indexed locking system, for consistent position and no point of impact changes.
- Quick detachment for easy storage and reattachment for shooting.
- Comes with a 1/2 x 20 female (barrel/shroud) thread adapter.
- Modular design for length adjustment.
- Crafted from 6061 T6 aluminum (individual sections) and 7075 aluminum (main QD housing and adapter).
The RYU has the same diameter as our KOI at 1.2 x 5.375 inches.
Compatibility Guide for RYU and YOKOZUNA Moderators
Direct Barrel Threading:
Airguns where the barrel threads directly into the shroud or barrel adapter (i.e., no floating barrel or internal support) are compatible with the QD attachment for both the RYU and YOKOZUNA moderators. However, we still recommend using a moderator one caliber size up to reduce the risk of pellet clipping and ensure optimal performance.
Threaded Housing Use:
For best accuracy and alignment with these airgun types, we recommend using the threaded housing version of the RYU or YOKOZUNA. This setup helps minimize clipping issues without requiring an upsized caliber.
Floating Barrels / Air Strippers:
Airguns with floating barrels or barrels supported by an air stripper inside a shroud are not recommended for use with heavy moderators, such as the RYU or YOKOZUNA, when using the QD attachment. The slight play in the QD mount can lead to misalignment and impact accuracy.
If you still wish to use the RYU or YOKOZUNA with these airguns, use the threaded housing and consider upsizing the moderator by one caliber to improve alignment and performance.
Best Option for Floating Barrel Airguns:
For airguns with floating barrels, we recommend using lighter moderators such as the Sumo, Tanto, KOI, or Tatsu. These models offer excellent performance with reduced weight, making them better suited for barrels that lack rigid support.
